AR sports game “HADO” expands to schools and inclusive sports, accelerating adoption both domestically and internationally

HADO, a sport that utilizes AR, is seeing widespread use in educational settings and as an inclusive sport.

HADO is an activity where players wear a special head-mounted display on their head and arm sensors on their arms. Players compete by swinging their arms to release energy balls and using shields to block enemy attacks. This sport does not require strenuous movements and can be played while seated or in a wheelchair. This means that people who are good at sports and those who are not can enjoy the game together on the same field.

In December 2025, meleap Inc., the developer and provider of HADO, announced a collaboration with Tokyo Gakugei University, a national university corporation. meleap will participate as a collaborating company in the “Reiwa Era Japanese-Style School Physical Education Development Support Project” commissioned by the university and run by the Japan Sports Agency. This project is a commissioned project aimed at improving and enhancing teaching methods for physical education classes where diverse students learn together. Going forward, this project will involve collaboration with 10 elementary, junior high, and high schools nationwide, as well as boards of education, to carry out demonstrations and verify effectiveness.

HADO is also highly regarded in the field of parasports. In October 2025, the “Stroke Festival x Careerland 2025” was held at the Sumida Industrial Hall in Kinshicho Marui in Sumida Ward, Tokyo. meleap exhibited a HADO experience booth at the event, and many visitors tried out the game. The Stroke Festival is popular as a cultural festival that breaks down barriers between people with disabilities and those without. Approximately 90% of participants responded in a survey that they would like to participate again. HADO has also been praised by people with disabilities and wheelchair users as a sport that can be enjoyed on an equal basis by everyone.

Additionally, a new trial event will be held in November 2025 at HADO ARENA Ecole Izumi in Izumi City, Osaka Prefecture. This event was held to benefit Tsukushinbo, an organization for people with achondroplasia. Achondroplasia is a disease accompanied by symptoms such as shortened limbs. Approximately 140 patients and their families participated in the trial event, overcoming their physical limitations to enjoy the sport. Participants commented, “Even though I couldn’t move around much, I was able to enjoy the game to the fullest.” The fact that wheelchair users can compete under the same rules was reaffirmed as a major attraction of HADO. KUL, Inc., the event organizer, aims to continue realizing a society where technology expands the options for sports that everyone can enjoy.

HADO’s expansion is not limited to Japan, but is accelerating on a global scale. HADO is currently available in over 39 countries around the world, including Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and South America. In December 2025, a new store opened in a shopping complex in Taipei, Taiwan.

The range of uses for HADO is expanding, and it is now being used for corporate training and attracting customers in addition to entertainment. meleap plans to continue expanding the possibilities of sports and entertainment.
