XR in Japan 2026.04.23

The VR exhibit at the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo, “The Creation of Electronic Musical Instruments,” has become a permanent exhibit, allowing visitors to experience it using smartphones or VR headsets.

Chapter 1 of the VR exhibition “The Creation of Electronic Musical Instruments,” produced by the National Museum of Nature and Science and NTT Data NJK, has been revived and reopened as a permanent exhibit starting March 27th.

This exhibition is based on a popular special exhibition held from July to August 2023. It was created using the XR platform “STYLY.biz” and can be experienced on PC browsers, smartphones, and VR headsets.

STYLY.biz is a service that provides comprehensive support for spatial experiences utilizing XR, from planning and production to distribution and operation. In Chapter 1, you can learn about the process of how electronic musical instruments were born and evolved in a virtual space. The design allows you to intuitively grasp the changes in instruments by freely walking around the exhibition room.

By making it a permanent installation, it can now be accessed anytime, anywhere. A wide range of people, including students, researchers, and music lovers, have been created to continuously learn about the history of electronic musical instruments.

NTT Data NJK plans to continue deploying STYLY.biz to museums and art galleries nationwide, promoting the spread of interactive exhibitions. Details on how to participate can be found on the official website.
