ROOX Co., Ltd. is selling a third-party strap for the Meta Quest 3 / Quest 3S called “HMD Silicone Mesh Strap for Quest 3 / 3S”. The price is 4,400 yen (tax included). The band alone is 990 yen. It comes in two colors: black and white. It can be purchased from the sales site “ROOX Online”.
The elastic band straps that come standard with the Meta Quest 3 / Quest 3S have issues with secure fastening. Because VR headsets have a forward-leaning center of gravity, the elastic bands alone tend to cause them to slip down during wear. This product solves this problem by using a silicone mesh material that covers a wide area of the back of the head.
The highly elastic silicone material conforms to the shape of your head, making it suitable even for users who previously had difficulty finding a suitable position. Its mesh structure provides excellent breathability, making it easy to wipe away sweat and keep clean. The tightness can be adjusted almost infinitely, allowing you to achieve a perfect fit tailored to your head shape. The arm angle can also be changed, accommodating adjustments to the mounting position based on hairstyle and head shape.
Once you’ve found the perfect fit, you can simply slip it over your head and snap the mesh into place to wear it. The ease of putting it on and taking it off is another practical advantage. Because it doesn’t have a large protrusion at the back of the head, it’s easy to use even when leaning back in a chair or bed.
The company’s resin strap, the “HMD Dial Strap for Meta Quest 3 / 3S,” had a structure where a hard material touched the back of the head, which made it prone to interference when lying on your back. This product is positioned as an improvement on that point.
However, when using it with the Quest 3S, please note that the lower part of the hole will be exposed when the strap is attached because there is no earphone connector.
