Honda releases 3D motorcycle model data free of charge to support creators; can also be used in the metaverse.

Honda is offering 3D model data of three of its popular motorcycle models to creators free of charge. The data is available from two locations: CLIP STUDIO ASSETS and the Unity Asset Store.

The impetus for this initiative came from requests from creators. Due to the complexity of their designs, motorcycles are difficult to include in illustrations and CG productions, and many creators have given up on the idea. Honda, a developer and manufacturer of motorcycles, is providing official assets with the hope that more people will be able to see motorcycles in their works, which led to this initiative.

Three models are currently available: the long-selling “Super Cub C125,” the classic naked bike “CB1000F,” and the “CT125,” which can be styled both casually and actively. Each model comes in various color options. The company is also considering adding more models in the future.

The accuracy of the data is also a key feature. During the development of the actual vehicle, adjustments are made down to the millimeter, and the assets are created based on that data. The precise reproduction of the details of the motorcycle sets it apart from typical 3D models.

All three models are available on CLIP STUDIO ASSETS, and “Super Cub C125” is available on the Unity Asset Store. They are royalty-free and can be used for a wide range of purposes, including illustrations, comics, games, and virtual space items, as long as you adhere to the usage conditions of each platform.

Honda is also active in VRChat, and has opened its official world, “Honda Motors Lab.” MoguraVR has published an experience report, so please check it out as well.
