Hakuhodo’s project-based research lab, “Metaverse Consumer Lab®,” and V Inc. have launched “chot-chat,” a research solution that allows for direct surveys from users in the metaverse. The announcement was made on March 11, 2026.
“chot-chat” is characterized by its design that allows users to obtain answers as an extension of casual conversation in a virtual space. Traditional web surveys and group interviews have faced the challenge of collecting timely and large-scale user feedback that is deeply rooted in specific communities. To address this challenge, the two companies combined their respective expertise to develop this service.
This service allows us to collect real-world feedback directly from users who use the metaverse as their base of operations. The interface, which blends seamlessly into the environment, lowers the psychological barrier to obtaining responses. Furthermore, it can be used not only to verify metaverse strategies but also as a source of insights into next-generation consumer trends and the development of new services.

Prior to the service launch, a preliminary survey was conducted on VRChat. From December 30, 2025 to January 7, 2026, a survey on the theme of “How to spend the end of the year” was posted, and responses were collected from 2,635 people. The results showed that many users spent the New Year chatting and gathering with friends. It was also noteworthy that many people chose positive words such as “enjoyment” as the kanji character to reflect on 2025. In the future, the target will be expanded beyond VRChat to major metaverse platforms both domestically and internationally.

*This survey was conducted under the operational structure of V Co., Ltd. and was not a joint survey with any of the platform operators.
V Inc. operates communities on VRChat and Roblox and has received funding from companies such as Sony Group, Square Enix, and Itochu Corporation. Hakuhodo’s “Metaverse Lifestyle Lab®” is a community-based research project that explores new consumer values together with people who have “another self” in the digital world.
