On October 6th, creator Nano released “Charakuru,” a character modeling support kit, for free. This kit allows you to create a VRM avatar from a single full-body illustration. It is based on Tripo‘s Smart Mesh 3D generation service and is officially sponsored by Tripo as an AI character modeling kit (※This tool is currently under development and will continue to be updated).
Previously, creating character models using Tripo alone presented challenges such as rough facial features, unnatural movements, and texture issues. Furthermore, workflow research and Blender knowledge were essential during the creation process. “Charakuru” addresses these issues by providing a uniquely structured workflow, packaged into a local application and agent-specific skills, and distributed in a format that users can easily replicate.
The operation of Tripo and Blender, as well as rigging and other setup tasks, are handled by “GPT-6.1 Sol” and “GPT-6 Astra.” Therefore, users do not need to directly interact with Blender. The creator’s responsibilities are limited to five steps: importing illustrations, reviewing generated images, selecting 3D candidates, adjusting proportions, and checking motion. The agent will always stop at checkpoints, so the user will always make the decision to select candidates.
We have released a free kit called “Charakuru” that allows you to create character models from a single image using Tripo P2.0 × Codex!
We are thrilled to announce that Tripo has officially become our sponsor!!!If you try to create a character model using only Tripo, you’ll end up with a pixelated face, strange movements, and dirty textures…!
This kit will solve it!This isn’t a service that completely delegates the work to AI; it’s a local kit where you collaborate with an agent as an assistant to create character models!
We are making full use of the computer capabilities of GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Astra! We aim to solve the problem where simply handing over the work results in terrible quality, but doing it manually requires an extremely high level of skill.
Even if I shared my workflow, it wasn’t reproducible and the barrier to entry was high, so I decided to create a kit that everyone could easily reproduce!
I pack the workflows I’ve discovered into local apps and agent skills, and distribute them in a way that users can reproduce.
While Blender is used for its operation, users will not need to interact with it.
Tasks that would normally require human intervention can be performed through simple operations within the app. It’s free, so please give it a try!
*Currently under development, many features are missing, but we plan to add features sequentially in future updates! Nano (@Dstudio_ai) October 6, 2026
To use this service, you will need Node.js 22 or later, a Chromium-based browser, a Codex that supports image generation and browser operation, a Tripo account, Blender 5.2 and the VRM Add-on for Blender, and Blender MCP. Users are responsible for any external service accounts and fees.
The app is available for download from the GitHub Releases page. Currently, it is still under development and does not support facial expressions or eye movements. The terms of use state that it can be used for both non-commercial and commercial purposes, provided that both the total annual revenue and cumulative funding raised are less than 100 million yen.
