On August 24th, Plant Kyun Co., Ltd. announced that it had added 3D samples of “Cosmic Princess Kaguya!” to its official website. The company specializes in 3D backgrounds and 2D art using Blender. They participated in this project as the person in charge of 3D backgrounds and background animations.
One of the samples is a CG material movie of Tsukuyomi, the virtual space that appears in the main story. Blender 4.2 LTS was used for production, and rendering was done with Cycles. After Effects 2024 was used for compositing. Kusama Tetsuya was in charge of CG look development and 3DCGI, and Imose Yuriko was in charge of 3D background models. The sky texture was done by the art department of Studio Colorido.
The video also features footage of a first-person perspective run through the KASSEN game stage. It uses the same Blender 3D models as the anime, but the frame rate has been increased from 24fps in the anime to 30fps. However, the company explains that because the models were created for video production, there are limitations to how smooth they can be as real-time 3D. They also added effects such as blur, focus lines, and glow using After Effects.
In addition, the CG assets used in the background videos of the live scenes were also released. These were also created using Blender 4.2 LTS and After Effects 2024.
