The Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art is currently hosting “Cyber VISION,” an AR experience as part of the “Ghost and the Shell” Kansai touring exhibition. The exhibition runs from July 17th to August 30th, 2026. The venue is the gallery on the 3rd floor of the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art Gallery Building.
The Ghost and the Shell Exhibition commemorates the 30th anniversary of the anime’s production and offers a cross-sectional experience of the works created by the series’ directors throughout its history. More than 1,600 valuable materials will be on display, including previously unreleased materials such as original drawings, setting materials, and storyboards.
Cyber Vision is an exhibit where you can wear AR glasses “XREAL Air 2 Ultra” and experience the perspective of characters from the series. This popular exhibit from the Tokyo exhibition will continue in the Kansai touring exhibition. It offers an immersive experience where you can not only view the exhibit but also dive into the world of Ghost in the Shell—cyberspace. The guide will be Tachikoma, familiar from the anime S.A.C. series.
The Kansai touring exhibition will also feature additional highlights. The latest archives from the new anime series “Ghost in the Shell,” which began airing on July 7, 2026, will be added to the exhibition. The exhibits will be changed during the exhibition period to coincide with the progress of the TV broadcast. In the latter half of the exhibition, original analog drawings from the unaired episodes 6 and 7 will also be specially displayed.
The Cyber Vision experience ticket is priced at 1,500 yen online and 1,700 yen at the venue counter on the day of the event. The experience will run from July 17th to August 20th, 2026, and will be sold on a time-slot reservation basis with a limited number of tickets available for each session. An admission ticket is required to participate in the experience. Admission tickets are priced at 2,500 yen for adults, 1,900 yen for high school and junior high school students, and 1,200 yen for elementary school students (prices available through ticket agencies).
