The Japan Coast Guard has released Minecraft world data that replicates the underwater topography around Japan. It is compatible with both Java and Bedrock editions and is available for free download.
The Japan Coast Guard conducts surveys of the seabed topography around Japan for the purpose of ensuring maritime safety, protecting maritime interests, and disaster prevention. This world data was created based on seabed topography data obtained from these surveys. You can easily virtually explore areas around islands that are normally inaccessible, and the deep seabed that you cannot see in person, within the game. Please note that the shape and scale of the terrain may differ from reality.
For land areas outside of Japan, the data is flat with no topographical features, and the colors are mechanically applied by a world data creation tool. Please note that this does not reproduce the actual colors of the seabed.
Two versions are available for download: Java Edition (214MB) and Bedrock Edition (226MB). Installation instructions can be found in the Minecraft World Data Import Manual (PDF) on the official website. The Minecraft game software itself is required to use this data. For PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch players, Minecraft Realms and the respective platform’s online service (both paid services) are also required.
The world features several distinctive locations. You can visit the Challenger Deep (block coordinates: X2159 / Y39 / Z3863), known as the deepest point in the world, and Nishinoshima, a volcanic island (X1988 / Y66 / Z2276), among others. This data is not endorsed by Microsoft or Mojang Studios.
