VTuber in Japan 2026.10.15

This video is amazing! This week’s recommended VTuber videos (until October 9th)

High-quality videos from VTubers (Virtual YouTubers) and virtual creators are uploaded every day. From among them, I’ll introduce some videos that I personally think you should definitely watch. In particular, I’ll delve deeper into unique works, works with high technical skill and planning ability, and works that are timely, capturing the fun, effort, and talent of the creators!

[Experiment] Can real-life friends who don’t know about VTubers realize that a beautiful girl VTuber is actually an old man inside? [Girl Beautiful Brain Body-Prank Shattering] [Hakase Amana/Kumano Kakumi/Kuuhara/Sonia Tohsaka/Nagi Hashiro]

“Virtual Bishoujo Incarnation,” or “Bimiku,” refers to men who use female avatars to engage in online activities. Those who perfectly replicate the voice often make it truly impossible to tell their gender. This time, Professor Tenna conducted a quiz for her real-life friend (Hakui Mikan), who isn’t familiar with VTubers, by having her listen to the voices of four VTubers and guess whether they were virtual Bishoujo or female.

The performers were Tohsaka Sonia, Hashiro Nagi, Kakuremi Kumano, and Yaoyorozu Kuuko (Kuuhara). Their cute voices and visuals left Mikan Shirai, who isn’t used to VTubers, completely bewildered. Please try to guess along with her whether they are women or virtual avatars. If you already know the answer, enjoy watching her confusion with a smirk. There is one person who seems to be the one who provides the punchline very clearly.
What’s interesting about virtual avatars is that a relatively large number of them don’t hide the fact that they are male, but openly declare it. Professor Tenna analyzes why this is the case in the first half of the video. The appeal lies in the gap between the cuteness-focused “outside” charm and the humor and approachability that are important to the “inside”—in a sense, the virtual avatar genre is a concentrated essence of the most flavorful aspects of VTuber culture. There aren’t many players, but there’s a deep charm that only virtual avatars can offer, so if you’re interested after watching this video, be sure to check out the activities of each channel.

Let’s get an original coin made! [Tower Brick Baron]

Baron Brick Tower, originally from the demon world of Everyvion, uploaded a video of himself creating his own original coins in the human world, as he was told he would be scolded if he sent coins from the demon world.

The quality of the coins actually produced is very high, making them highly desirable collector’s items. The substantial feel of the coins is something that brings joy just by owning them. This video shows that it’s possible to create such coins as your own personal merchandise.
This is a very helpful video that explains everything from how to place an order, how to communicate with the seller, and roughly how much it will cost. There are currently many VTubers who create their own merchandise, and creating original coins might be one of the options for that merchandise.
Baron Brick Tower will be making an appearance at Design Festa, held at Tokyo Big Sight on November 14th and 15th. If you happen to meet him, you can ask him for this “Everybion Gold Coin” as a gift. If you’re interested, be sure to check it out.

【Street Interview】I Can’t Go Home Until They Tell Me My Name RTA #1【#UpLandTV】

Upland has launched “Upland TV,” a VTuber program that takes on TV-style projects. A project that was previously used for pranks has now officially started as a full-fledged program.
The show features Carlo Pino and Yamato Iori from Dot Live, and Himaji Pane and Vermouth Belluna from V-Pai. For this first episode, Yamato Iori and Himaji Pane go out into the streets and try to get people to guess their names. Will the two of them be able to get anyone to guess them…?

The mere sight of Yamato Iori and Himaji Pane appearing on an LCD screen and talking to passersby is already hilarious. Yamato Iori boldly approaches strangers with an overly daring approach, while Himaji Pane struggles to find someone to talk to, and their challenge begins. This project is both cutting-edge and full of the same kind of raw, no-nonsense energy that evokes the early days of VTubers in 2018.
The first towns the two arrived in were Sugamo and Togoshi Ginza. These are towns where many people don’t even know what a “VTuber” is, so they’re trying out various methods to approach them. Since both of them refer to themselves by their own names, there’s a scene where they both accidentally blurt out their own names in a segment where they’re supposed to be guessing each other’s names, which is quite amusing. It’s also fun to watch the four people watching the video and reacting to it all at once.
Upland, which became part of the MBS Group that operates television broadcasting services in 2023, has leveraged its expertise to create a program that fully utilizes television-style filming and editing techniques. The program is very well-structured and highly polished, and each of the four participants shines brightly. This program, which is produced with a different approach from their usual online broadcasts, has great potential to become an entertainment series that highlights the individual charms of each performer with this high level of quality going forward.

[Prank] The theory that fighting game players will believe anything R says [R / Devil Ibara Rose / Maryumero]

Esports caster Earl is a well-known figure among fighting game players. If he says it, wouldn’t fighting game players believe it even if it’s blatant nonsense…? So, Goodman and Maryuumero decided to play a prank on him. The target was Ibara Devilrose.

CCJP (Capcom Creators JP), which has been generating buzz, is a project that works with creators to promote and boost the appeal of Capcom titles. Goodman is a first-generation member, Maryumero is a second-generation member, and Ibara Devilrose is a third-generation member. Earl has previously served as the MC for the CCJP Cup, a Street Fighter 6 tournament organized by CCJP. …So you might think that with this group, the conversation would naturally revolve around the CCJP Cup, but the conversation goes off on a tangent right from the start. Earl begins rambling on about things that may or may not be true. Naturally, Ibara Devilrose doesn’t doubt him and believes everything he says.
Earl mixes fact and lies so naturally that it’s almost impossible to tell what’s true and what’s false. Even the pranksters, Goodman and Maryu-mero, can’t see through him. The second half is quite intense with one outrageous topic after another, but since some of it is a lie for the prank and some is the truth, it’s really hard to tell where the line is drawn. It’s an enjoyable film to watch as he manipulates not only the target but also the pranksters with his skillful rhetoric.

[Baacharu Part 1] Sudden Retirement Announcement! We found out the real reason from what only a former VTuber behind the scenes could tell us #YubariVideo

“After-Hours Talk,” a talk show hosted by Yuushin Rei, invites various VTubers to share their honest thoughts and feelings that they wouldn’t normally say. This time, the guest is Baacharu, the world’s first male VTuber, who has been generating a tremendous response since announcing his retirement.

These two share some very rare commonalities: they were active from the very beginning of the VTuber era, they worked behind the scenes at a VTuber company, they were in a position to appear in front of listeners, and they have both retired. As a result, their conversation was incredibly lively, and it contained topics that only these two could discuss.
The candid remarks of these two, who spoke about their experiences working behind the scenes at a VTuber company during its startup phase, the discrepancies that arose as it grew, and their deep love for the VTuber community, carry significant weight. In particular, Baacharu seemed to have been able to clearly articulate his pent-up feelings while talking with Yuushin Rei, and he has quite clearly put his thoughts together. If you want to know the reasons for Baacharu’s retirement, I highly recommend watching this conversation in conjunction with his retirement announcement stream.

The parts of this interview that Yuushin Rei talked about herself will become even clearer if you watch the music video for her cover song “Haru,” which she released when she debuted. We don’t know how much of what is depicted in this work is factual, but watching it in conjunction with the interview will greatly increase your understanding of the nuances of emotions she felt when she retired from behind the scenes and became an independent VTuber.

【My First Overseas IKEA】Starting a price survey at IKEA in New Zealand! I also intend to try the limited-time menu!【Independent Vtuber】

Traveler VTuber Kokon loves IKEA and frequently makes videos about it. This time, she’s on a working holiday in New Zealand, and she’s already visited the IKEA there and uploaded a video about it.

The structure of IKEA itself is quite similar to that in Japan, which gives a sense of familiarity, but that’s precisely why the subtle differences you can discover are so interesting. This time, in particular, I checked the prices of the items sold at IKEA. The price differences are quite noticeable.
On the other hand, some of the food sold is very New Zealand-style, clearly highlighting the differences from Japan.

A video from when she first arrived in New Zealand on a working holiday visa has also been uploaded.
Cocon, who is experienced in creating numerous travel videos, has a good pace and shows a keen eye for enjoying foreign countries. His narration, summarizing what he saw in the places he visited from his own perspective, is fluent and very easy to listen to. In addition, he talks about the realities of working holiday abroad in an down-to-earth way, and the fact that he gives a glimpse into the real New Zealand, which is different from what you see in tourist spots, is another point that makes it interesting.

I tried giving a human “eternal life” [New VTuber] #newvtuber #vtuber #YadokariNoDolly

Dolly the hermit crab uploaded a video with an incredibly impactful opening line: “Today, I’m going to jump on the bandwagon and create eternal life!” This time, she’s experimenting to create true immortality. Is such a thing really possible…?

A very innocent “Let’s Make and Play!” begins. What they’re doing is quite risky, and the fact that they’re doing it with such bright smiles and enthusiasm is a huge imbalance. An unsettling atmosphere permeates the entire experiment. It’s a short video, so please be sure to check out the full experiment.
It’s astonishing that the experiment of creating “human-like beings” in an attempt to achieve immortality is filmed using stop-motion animation. Their strange movements create a peculiar feeling, as if you’re watching something alien. This technique is used in other videos as well, and each one is incredibly elaborate.

At first glance, Dolly the hermit crab seems to be doing typical VTuber activities, but if you actually watch her, you’ll quickly realize that her work is also a “VTuber-style expressive piece.”
As the description states, “This is an independent VTuber-style content that allows you to enjoy the story from two perspectives: ‘you’ who are watching the stream and ‘you’ who have visited Adan Island.” The narrative aspect, told through the hermit crab Dolly, is very strong, and the work is structured in a way that follows the format of an “independent VTuber.”
This narrative aspect is quite evident in the numerous short videos and the initial live stream. Watching the initial stream in particular should give you a good understanding of what kind of content she creates and what it depicts. Since a lot of preparation seems to have already been done, those who want to see a VTuber with a strong narrative should definitely check it out.

Live stream teaching Salome how to drive ✦ Hayato Kagami ✦ Euro Truck Simulator 2

The game “Teaching My Sister to Drive,” where you have real-time conversations with your younger sister, is hugely popular among VTubers. The game is fun to watch as players struggle to get their sister to drive using only conversation. Ichiman Tenbara Salome recreated some of the game’s moves in a live stream, taking on the role of the one being taught. Kagami Hayato played the role of the teacher in the game.

The game being played is “Euro Truck Simulator 2,” which Ichiman Tenbara Salome had played before. In this game, you drive a truck while conversing with Kagami Hayato in response to his instructions, but Ichiman Tenbara Salome, acting as an AI, is completely unsuccessful at driving because she is too faithful to the instructions.
Hayato Kagami is in agony realizing that things will never go well unless he gives precise instructions that the AI can understand. Salome Ichiman Tenbara, on the other hand, answers in a cheerful and lively voice. And then there’s the incredibly difficult controls of Euro Truck Simulator 2. You can enjoy the comical scenes of things seemingly getting right but never quite clicking, making absolutely no progress.
Every response from Ichiman Tenbara Salome to Kagami Hayato’s various questions is very AI-like, with a conversation that is technically coherent but awkward. If you only listen for a moment, you might think you’re actually talking to the AI Ichiman Tenbara Salome, that’s how meticulously it’s performed. Hayato Kagami’s earnest attempts to get her to drive properly are also unique. The combination of their talents has resulted in a nearly 45-minute comedy sketch-like piece of entertainment.

【Asobi★Mawari-tai!】Quiz! Ig Nobel Prize【Sora-ka Sopi-a/Hololive】

The Ig Nobel Prize is awarded to research that makes people laugh and think. This time, Sora Sopi, a member of Hololive’s Asobi★Mawari-tai! who is known for having a PhD in Science, conducted a 2026 version of the Ig Nobel Prize quiz. She was joined by her fellow members Hyakuto Kyoko, Atsuchi Mera, and Suzunari Tsuzuri.

The content is scientifically quite solid, and reading the description reveals that they actually researched papers to create the quiz. As expected from an Ig Nobel Prize winner, the research presented is often quite humorous, but the reason this broadcast is so enjoyable to watch is because the research is explained in an easy-to-understand way.
The quiz questions were perfectly balanced, the hosting was smooth and skillful, and the three contestants’ enthusiasm and humorous answers made for a great show. It’s a highly polished and entertaining program that sparks interest in the fascinating world of science.

Sora-ka Sopi-a recently made headlines for simultaneously watching the Nobel Prize in Physics award ceremony. The program they watched with viewers was a live stream by the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) titled “[Nobel Prize in Physics] Enjoy the moment of the announcement with a science communicator @Miraikan.” Despite many viewers watching the Nobel Prize ceremony for the first time, it attracted a large number of simultaneous connections, and the archive has been viewed over 320,000 times (as of October 12). The subsequent live stream explaining the three Nobel Prizes in Natural Sciences also garnered significant attention.
As her introduction states, “She has an irrepressible intellectual curiosity that says, ‘The world is so interesting!’, and is plotting to increase the number of people who will explore with her,” and her plan has already begun to bear fruit just two weeks after she started her activities, creating a whirlwind of interest in science among viewers.
