Nijisanji, Hololive… How well-known are each VTuber agency? Survey results released.

Research Yano Ltd Institute. has released the results of a consumer survey on VTubers. The survey revealed that the two major agencies, “Nijisanji Project” and “Hololive Production,” are recognized by over 90% of VTuber fans.

The survey was conducted online in November 2025, targeting 25,277 men and women aged 15-44 residing in Japan. Of these, 1,200 people (600 men and 600 women) who listed watching videos as a hobby and selected VTubers as their favorite type of video were extracted as “VTuber fans.” The survey investigated their awareness of major domestic VTuber agencies and projects.

The top two agencies in terms of recognition rate were “Nijisanji Project” and “Hololive Production.” Both agencies received responses indicating that over 90% of VTuber fans are aware of them. There were no significant differences in recognition rates across genders or age groups, suggesting widespread penetration across a broad demographic.

Following closely were “Vspo!” and “Aogiri High School,” both of which were recognized by over 70% of all VTuber fans. The two agencies showed differences in trends based on gender and age group. “Vspo!” has female VTubers who are strong in esports, such as FPS (first-person shooter) and fighting games, and as a result, they have a high recognition rate among young people who are familiar with esports. “Aogiri High School” specializes in short videos, and as a result, they tend to have a higher recognition rate among men and younger people than women.

In fifth place is “KizunaAI,” the project to which Kizuna AI, the person said to be the origin of the term VTuber, belongs. She has a high recognition rate among men, and when broken down by age group, recognition tends to be higher among those in their early 20s and early 30s than among teenagers.
