In VRChat, a wide variety of content is released day and night, from game worlds where you can play with friends to scenic worlds perfect for relaxing. In this series, we will pick out and introduce some of the most visually appealing worlds from the vast number of available worlds.
The world I’m introducing today is “Daydreaming / Dreams,” set in a beautifully abandoned school.
“Daydreaming” is a world created by Korean creator Harim. You can explore a school with a mysterious atmosphere, where liminal space and a sense of fantasy merge.
The first area you enter is a staircase zone. It’s monochrome and at first glance seems rather sterile, but if you go a little further, the atmosphere changes completely. You arrive at a corridor surrounded by lush green grass.
Unfortunately, you can’t enter the classroom directly, but the light streaming in through the window and the curtains fluttering in the breeze are simply beautiful. However, this is merely a “stepping stone.” Touching the television placed in the middle of the hallway will warp you to a surprising place.
It’s a classroom… but it’s completely flooded. The lighting, which was previously quite bright, has shifted to cooler tones to match the water. There are even fish swimming around in the classroom, which adds a nice touch.
If you wish to move on from here, you touch the video camera that is mysteriously placed on the only desk. The next area is a room that appears to be a library. This room is also full of greenery, but you can see a different “scenery” from the corridor, with trees growing in the back.
“Daydreaming / Dreams” is a world that blends the ordinary space of a school with the colors of the extraordinary. As mentioned earlier, schools are usually sterile places, but Harim’s amazing point is how he completely changes the atmosphere by planting plants there.
