High-quality videos from VTubers (Virtual YouTubers) and virtual creators are uploaded every day. From among them, I’ll introduce some videos that I personally think you should definitely watch. In particular, I’ll delve deeper into unique works, works with high technical skill and planning ability, and works that are timely, capturing the fun, effort, and talent of the creators!
[Prank] I made a 3D model of a VTuber even though I wasn’t asked to [※This is purely fan art]
VTubers receive a large amount of “fan art,” but one of the most impressive pieces is a 3D model. This time, Yumetengu has created a 3D model of Hanazumi Shuka as fan art.
Based on her regular live streams and three-view drawings, she secretly created an elaborate 3D model and revealed it as a surprise, astonishing Shuka Hanasumi.
First, Yumetengu asks Hanazumi Shuka to guess what he’s hiding in the VR space using an Akinator-style game, but he surprises her by showing her a stylized model first. This alone is quite cute and Hanazumi Shuka is delighted, but then he sets up a prank by swapping the 2D model illustration with the 3D model to see if she notices. The quality is so high that she doesn’t even notice the swap, it’s as if the 2D model was simply converted to 3D, which is amazing.
However, as mentioned earlier, the crucial point of this prank is that Yumetengu is very careful to remember that this is fan art he created without permission. He considered the possibility that the recipient might already be creating a 3D model, and he didn’t force them to use the model he created. He was prepared to shelve it if he was warned. The prank works because he carefully checked the terms of service and made sure to respect the fact that it was just a derivative work before giving it as a gift.
This time, Yumetengu’s “I made a 3D model even though I wasn’t asked to” is inspired by a video by Saikono Manuru. It’s an elaborate prank where he secretly creates a model of Machikawa Biba as fan art.
Being turned into a 3D model is a dream for many VTubers. It’s no wonder that this was created with such care, effort, and technical skill, while maintaining the respect expected of fan art. It’s a surprise that brings happiness to everyone involved: the creator, the model, and the viewers.
A desperate, emotionally charged walk [vlog/Rokuya Fuya]
Rokuya Fuya, known for his popular walking vlogs, occasionally uploads vlogs with a slightly unusual approach. This time, despite declaring that it’s “not emotional,” he embarked on a “desperate emotional walk” in Nishi-Ogikubo in search of something emotional. Will he be able to find an emotional way to walk?
Walking around town while contemplating what “emotional” means can change how you see things. Your perspective on things like cafes and flowers broadens considerably, allowing you to discover new ways to enjoy your walk. Fuyarokuya’s vlogs skillfully demonstrate how to broaden your perspective in this way, and their fast-paced editing makes them appealing and something you’ll want to emulate.
Even in her 2D days, Fuyorokuya’s illustrations created a sense of seamless integration into the city, but her 3D transformation has further enhanced that feeling of realism. She shows off her walks through frontal selfies and angles where she’s filmed from behind as she walks. The way the background is in focus while she herself is out of focus is brilliantly done, creating a sense of focus shift. Her vlogs, which blend naturally into live-action footage and convey a strong sense of reality, showcase a great deal of attention to detail.
【First 3D Project】I made a 3D model all by myself!!! / I Made a 3D Model All By Myself!
Towara Akamine has uploaded videos showing how to create her own 3D models. One is a stylized model made using Blender, and the other is a life-sized model made using Vroid.
The life-size 3D models created using Vroid are particularly highly accurate. They are in no way inferior to the original Live2D models.
The video also summarizes the actual process of how the artwork is created. It’s a compelling video that demonstrates just how much 2D design can be reproduced using Vroid if you put your skills into practice.
Akamine Towara is a self-created VTuber, even making her own Live2D model. She is also a creator who makes her own plush toys and figures. All of her creations are of extremely high quality, and the videos of her meticulous production process are well worth watching.
It seems that their activities from now on will mainly involve using newly created 3D models, so there are high expectations for their future endeavors.
[A Healer’s Daily Life] When I took on a request for help with insomnia, I uncovered my neighbor’s shocking secret… [Another World Vlog]
Snow Anyu, who posts vlogs about her daily life in another world, has received a request at her White Magic Clinic. The client is suffering from insomnia, but how will she solve this problem…?
The world-building is meticulously crafted, and the way the extraordinary events of our world are portrayed as everyday life in another world is what makes Snow Anyu’s video series unique.
The vlog’s presentation is full of meticulous attention to detail. In addition to filming himself with a fixed camera, he also incorporates shots from elaborate angles, skillfully creating a dynamic and otherworldly presentation.
Also, true to the spirit of Shiromahou Clinic, the bright atmosphere inside the clinic is effectively conveyed through the use of light, which is very effective in creating the world of the film. The whole film is filled with light, making you feel cheerful when you watch it. The use of focus, such as blurring the background when the focus is on the subject, shows a strong attention to detail in the visuals.
Snow Aniu’s Vlog series is a delightful story about the daily life of a healer in another world, told like a picture book. Each video is a pleasure to watch, thanks to its meticulously crafted world, the thorough use of white magic in the visuals, and the reassuringly engaging storyline. Be sure to check it out!
Don’t come to the other world
NOΔH, a higher being who academically discusses the realities of other worlds where magic is the dominant culture, has uploaded a video that’s the opposite of the currently popular “Come to XX” videos: a warning video titled “Don’t come to another world.” While being transported to another world is a classic fantasy dream, why shouldn’t you go…? The video explains the reasons in a convincing way.
NOΔH’s video series is appealing because of its solid world-building and the way it logically and quickly explains the workings of that world. The culture, history, values, and social structure of the magical world are expressed through a combination of paintings, reenactments, and other visual elements.
This particular video is highly recommended as an introduction to NOΔH’s videos, as it’s short and easy to understand. Even just the first few seconds are a great way to convey the charm of their magical world.
NOΔH’s video series is meticulously crafted in various aspects, not only explaining the culture of other worlds, but also creating items and constructing languages from those other worlds. No matter which video you start with, you’ll get a sense of the fascinating insights and explanations of these other worlds, so feel free to watch whichever one interests you. They objectively and clearly explain these worlds for our scientific world, offering a glimpse into a magical realm.
[Music Talk] The first music I ever heard / When did I become a creator? / How to find great music [#Ryokusen’s Music Dialogue]
“Ryusen’s Music Dialogue” is a program where Ryusen has one-on-one conversations about music with streamers from Nijisanji. This time, she has invited Gengetsu Toujirou, with whom she has worked on projects such as “Kojirase Harassment,” as her guest.
Although they already have quite a close relationship and often talk about music, this time they delve deeper into aspects they don’t usually discuss, making it quite interesting for fans of both of them. In particular, they discuss the style of Toujirou Gengetsu, who has recently been doing a lot of work as a creator and providing music for others, going into detail about why he adopted that format. I think this part of the conversation will resonate with anyone involved in creative work, not just music, so please give it a listen.
In the latter half of the show, Ryokusen also talks about his beliefs regarding how he wants to express music in the future. He has a mindset of “I’m ready for it no matter when I’m asked, even if it’s suddenly announced that the Budokan is open tomorrow and I want to stand on stage,” and you can hear quite clearly what kind of thinking led to this attitude, so it’s definitely worth checking out.
To coincide with this interview, a music video for their cover of “Like a Ghost” was also uploaded. The two often sing together as part of the unit “Kojirase Harassment,” but this time, they sing as Ryushen and Gengetsu Toujirou, clearly showcasing their individual personalities, which is a major point. The androgynous voices of the two blend beautifully, faithfully recreating the atmosphere of the song. They deliver a beautiful harmony.
【3D】#Hololive Singing Contest【Live Broadcast
Hololive has many talented singers, but of course, it’s not just the JP members who are good singers! Pekora Usada hosted the “Hololive Singing Awards Talent,” where a select group of singers gathered to give serious scores.
The participants this time include Riona Hibiki and Shoko Tora from FLOW GLOW, who are meeting Usada Pekora for the first time as JP members, as well as talented singers from EN and ID. Many overseas members are also participating in the live broadcast in 3D, making this a very valuable opportunity for cross-border collaboration. Moreover, the EN and ID members are singing Japanese songs that they like. You will be amazed by their incredibly smooth pronunciation and singing ability. With machine scoring, everyone is delivering surprisingly high-quality vocals, so be sure to check out all of them.
Usada Pekora’s thoughtful hosting skills are also a highlight. She speaks to each person carefully and skillfully brings out the best in everyone so that they can all be the stars. In addition, the participation of IRyS, who is fluent in Japanese, as an interpreter is also something not to be missed. The fact that the grand prize will be decided not by AI scoring, but by votes from all the Hololive members who participated and Usada Pekora is a wonderful and exciting initiative.
It’s quite a large-scale event, and I imagine it would be very difficult to hold it live due to the geographical and environmental factors, but as a full-throttle competition that crosses the borders of JP, EN, and ID, I really hope they hold a second one.
Attack-Focused Friendship-Destroying Conversation Deck Battle: Akabane VS Ema
When having a conversation, you might often assemble a conversation deck to make the discussion go smoothly. But what if you assembled a conversation deck that was almost like harassment, designed to make it difficult for the other person to answer? How much damage could you inflict on them…? Yoko Akabane and Ema★August conducted an “attack-focused friendship-destroying conversation deck battle” to find out.
First, set an attack power for your conversation deck. If your opponent can’t answer and skips the conversation, you’ll take damage. The one who reduces their opponent’s HP to zero with a stronger attack wins—a friendship-destroying brawl.
Yoko Akabane bombarded Ema★August with difficult questions, such as “What’s the longest number of days you’ve skipped a bath?”, “Which senior streamer do you think you could beat in a verbal argument?”, and “Throwing away your swimsuit is foolish,” launching a full-on attack. She also used strong words like “Don’t think you’ll get away with it” and “Don’t get cocky.” On the other hand, Ema★August brought up topics that pushed the boundaries of compliance, such as “A story about almost breaking the law,” leaving Yoko Akabane, the streamer, in a state of great confusion. Attacking with questions that are truly not okay is one of the highlights of this game.
This live stream features an entertaining, strong-style brawl, but you’ll have to watch the ending to find out who wins.
Absolutely My Domain -Kingdom- / Tsukasa Ryokoku (official)
With a 15-year-old dictator like this, you might find yourself pledging your loyalty and fawning over him, right? The music video for Tsukasa Ryokoku’s new original song “Absolutely My Domain -Kingdom-,” who continues his activities to become the king of the “strongest country,” has been released.
This is a very upbeat and catchy tune, a character song that perfectly reflects Tsukasa Ryokoku’s background and personality. Her joyful singing, filled with plenty of arrogant remarks, is incredibly cute. Listening to it, you can’t help but want to raise your fist in the air along with her slightly arrogant and reckless energy.
She’s actually an introverted third-year middle school student, and her lonely life at school is woven into the music video. Her sudden transformation from school uniform to military uniform, which instantly raises her spirits, is incredibly endearing. The fact that the content of her song about making the people obey her involves “pampering” them is also very typical of her.
This is a signature piece that I hope you’ll listen to when you get to know the VTuber, Tsukasa Ryokoku.
This song was performed with vocals and dance at the 3D live concert “Prelude to the Arrival of the Gods.” The comments section was abuzz with excitement, and the word “GOD” was everywhere. This song is sure to become a killer tune at future live concerts.
【Original】Nya Umyau Life Happy【Suzu Mizumiya/Hololive DEV_IS】
The music video for Mizumiya Kaname’s first original song, “Umyaunya Happy Life,” is packed with the cuteness of a girl who eats a lot! The “Umyaumya Unyaunya” pronunciation is catchy and makes this a happy song.
Kaname Mizumiya is known for her very strong desire to eat. In these lyrics, she lets loose her desires, saying, “I mainly live for my appetite,” and “I want to eat this and that, everything.” The feeling of happiness she exudes in the part “Eat, sleep, play, and eat again” warms the heart of the listener. Listening to her joyful singing voice makes you want to feed her until she’s full.
This song about a love of food is sung with a sparkling, cute melody and full-on lovely vocals. The bouncy dance animation is also very charming. It’s incredibly catchy, and there are plenty of parts where you can sing along. If it were ever performed live, you’d want to shout “Oh yeah!” along with her singing and dancing.
As a song expressing her desire for food, I recommend listening to it together with her cover of “Gatsugatsu!”, the opening theme of the gourmet hunter anime “Toriko,” which was posted on her birthday a year ago.
In the second half of Kaname Mizumiya’s birthday live concert, she performed a new song and dance. Throughout the concert, Mizumiya Kaname challenged herself with various dance genres, showcasing plenty of dazzling moves. While every song was impressive, her dream collaboration with Oozora Subaru, whom she admired, on “Pleiades!” is a must-see. Be sure to check it out along with the concert’s opening video.
Additionally, a video showing the process of creating the choreography has been uploaded. This time, the choreography is her own original work. You can see her trial and error as she tries to create a cute dance, as she usually performs cool and powerful dances.
