In VRChat, a wide variety of content is released day and night, from game worlds where you can play with friends to scenic worlds perfect for relaxing. In this series, we will pick out and introduce some of the most visually appealing worlds from the vast number of available worlds.
The product I’m introducing today is “Rashinban Adventure” (hereinafter referred to as “Rashinban Adventure”), which offers a massive 40-minute VR theatrical experience.
“Rashinban Adventure” is a world created by Arata, depicting an adventure battle story set in a frigid world, where the protagonist Rashinban and his companions search for the Arctic. Incidentally, Arata also serves as the director and screenwriter.
The unique feature of this world is that you can enjoy a hero show-like experience using avatars designed for “VRChat” in a 360-degree screen-like display. There are recommended standing positions within the world, and when you stand there, the show unfolds around you.
In a typical movie, characters that move off-screen disappear from view until the camera switches, but in “Rashinban Adventure,” you can “follow” the character you want to see by turning your head in sync with their movements.
The main story begins after the viewing instructions are finished. It turns out that the statues in the center of the world are actually Rashinban and his friends, and they suddenly come to life, launching into a climactic battle scene right from the start.
Rashinban and his companions Haku and Gin face off against the gigantic monster Leviathan. They fire the cannons mounted on their ship, but to no avail. Haku explains that in order to fight the Arctic monster, they need to use “Arctic Fist,” an ice-elemental punch that is delivered by cooling their bodies.
After such a back-and-forth exchange, the scene shifts to a flashback, depicting Rashinban’s past. It turns out that Rashinban is the son of the famous adventurer Boukentan, but one day, his father, who had set out on an expedition to the Arctic, went missing.
Rashinban, determined to find his missing father and discover the Arctic, tries to enter the Explorer Academy, but fails the entrance exam multiple times. In despair and on the verge of giving up, he helps out at his family’s restaurant one day, where he meets Haku and Gin.
As for how Rasinban decided to participate in the Arctic adventure mentioned at the beginning… I encourage you to see for yourself.
“Rashinban Adventure” is a world where you can enjoy breathtaking VR action footage for extended periods. You might find it interesting to watch it twice: first, focus only on what’s in front of you to grasp the story, and then on your second viewing, take in the whole picture (your surroundings). This work is structured as “Part 1,” and the ending is designed to suggest a sequel. In the future, we might be able to see the continuation of the story.
