VTuber Nekomiya Hinata launches “original rice cultivation” project in collaboration with a farm in Tambasasayama.

On May 4th, Tambasasayama Kamai Farm Co., Ltd. launched a crowdfunding project to grow rice in collaboration with VTuber Nekomiya Hinata. This project, “Let’s Make the Best Rice Project,” aims to create new ways of engaging with agriculture and promote the charm of the region by bringing together VTubers who are active in the digital realm with local agriculture.

In this project, we will cultivate our own original rice in rice paddies in Tambasasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. Kamai Farm will handle the practical aspects of cultivation, and the project will progress together with supporters while sharing the growth process. Rather than simply selling a product, our aim is to share the process from when the rice is grown until it reaches the table, and to bridge the gap between food and agriculture.

The crowdfunding campaign will be conducted on the platform “CAMPFIRE“. As a reward for supporters, rice will be provided in a rice bag featuring an original design by Nekomiya Hinata. The variety is Koshihikari, grown using the natural environment of Tambasasayama. In addition, limited edition goods and sake with an original label from local Shugetsu Karibaichi Sake Brewery will also be offered.

Regarding this initiative, Nekomiya Hinata said, “By being involved from the beginning, I want to learn about the preciousness of rice, which we take for granted, and the difficulty of growing it.” With her 10th anniversary of activities approaching, she decided to take on this challenge with the desire to celebrate with her fans.

Kamai Tomohiro, the representative director of Farm Kamai, cites the challenge of a shortage of successors in the region and expresses his desire to let many people know about the agricultural culture of the land where he was born and raised, and to pass it on to the future.

This project aims to provide rice that prioritizes quality and taste through special cultivation methods that minimize the use of pesticides and fertilizers. By combining online entertainment with real-world primary industries, the project aims to appeal to people who have previously had no contact with agriculture.
