Buy vegetables while chatting with a VTuber over the monitor: Check out Machi Super Chat’s Hokota City promotion project

The “Ibaraki Kitchen Car Festival 2026 in Kashimanada Seaside Park” was held at Kashimanada Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture on Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, March 1st. In conjunction with this event, the “Machi Super Chat Project” implemented a farm produce sales project.

The project involved selling sweet potatoes, strawberries, spinach, radishes, burdock, carrots, lettuce, and other produce from Hokota City at an unmanned stand. In parallel with the sales, an interaction corner was set up where VTubers could talk to visitors in real time on monitors. There was also an exhibition panel introducing the initiative and a VTuber experience corner.

The VTubers appeared from 12:00 to 15:00 on February 28th, with one appearing every hour. The three VTubers who appeared were Uruwashi Ririri, Sekishiro Miko, and Hira Hikari.

The “Machi Super Chat Project” is a regional revitalization project promoted by uyet Inc. Its purpose is to enable VTuber fans, primarily those in their teens to 30s, to discover “towns they can support,” and to contribute to the expansion of hometown tax donations through content that promotes the charms of the region. The project began collaborating with Hokota City on July 18, 2025. To date, the project has been carried out in eight municipalities across the country.

On the day, visitors enjoyed chatting with the VTuber on the monitor while purchasing agricultural products. uyet Inc. explained that through the VTuber, they were able to create an opportunity for local people to rediscover the charms of Hokota City.
