From haptics to kinesthetics and physical AI: Diver-X acquires business license for haptic device “EXOS”

In December 2025, Diver-X Inc. acquired a business license for the “EXOS” series of haptic devices from Crosstech Management Inc. The company plans to promote improvements in the operability of XR, robots, and physical AI.

Diver-X has previously implemented haptic feedback technology in glove-type controllers, but we determined that force-based haptic technology that acts on muscles is essential to further enhance the sense of immersion, leading to this latest certification.

“EXOS” is an exoskeleton device that reproduces the reaction force when touching a CG object. It was originally developed by exiii Inc., and after the company was dissolved, it was taken over by Crosstech Management. With this license acquisition, Diver-X will be able to build a system that can provide any operation related to the hands.

Diver-X has acquired related intellectual property rights, as well as technologies such as the “EXOS Wrist,” which stimulates the wrist. This gives the company ownership of multiple product technologies, including tactile sensations for the five fingers. It has also acquired the rights to the “Hand Unit,” the fundamental unit of the robotic hand. Utilizing these assets, Diver-X will begin full-scale business development in the robotic hand field. By combining these assets with existing technologies, the company aims to provide next-generation interfaces.

In the future, the company plans to focus on remote control of robots. It also plans to collect learning data in the field of physical AI, which is attracting attention in the industrial sector. The aim is to further develop and popularize technology in fields where the real world and the digital world are fused.

Hiroshi Yamaura, former CEO of exiii Inc., said that the elemental technologies of XR are closely linked to AI and robots. He commented that he was pleased that the approximately five years of work being carried on in Japan will lead to further developments.
